✨ I was so lucky to be interviewed by JWT Book Adventures back in July!✨
💕Jonathan did a fantastic job guiding me through my very first interview, making the whole experience fun, relaxed, and full of great bookish chat. I hope you’ll enjoy reading my answers and getting a little peek behind the scenes of my writing journey and curvy romance world! 💖
1. What is your book about?
Ultimately, Find Me is a is a spicy, feel-good romance with humour and heart. It is a story about self-acceptance, finding where you truly belong, and embracing love.
Curvaceous Mela Kramer gives her husband an ultimatum; either to follow her to her hometown Vienna for a long overdue holiday together, or the marriage is over. Mela hopes Henry will see sense despite everybody telling her he doesn't deserve any more chances. In search of herself, she meets a tall, dark and handsome Spaniard, 'King' Rojas, who puts butterflies in her tummy and dangerous thoughts in her head. If she finds the courage to end her loveless marriage, he might just be the man to educate her on all things sensual...
The problem is that King only does one-night stands. But, if it’s just one night, he’ll never learn about her deepest, darkest family secret and why Mela suffers from panic attacks...
Hunky 'King' Rojas wrestles with his own demons; he feels guilty for his best friend’s death. And there is also a reason he only does one-night stands. They are less complicated and have less chance of a psycho ruining his life... again!
With both of them convinced love is not for them, will this just be a summer flirt during a heatwave in beautiful Vienna or will these two broken souls realise they need each other more than they think, and find the courage to admit that to themselves and each other?
2. Is your book a stand- alone book or a book series?
It is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I would like to explore though the dynamics about going into a relationship and early reviews show that readers enjoy the chemistry between the main characters, but I might give some of the side characters their own stories.
3. What inspired you to write this book or book series?
Honestly, Mela’s story of a curvy main character on a journey of self-discovery and liberation from her narcissistic husband as well as her own intrusive and often negative thoughts, is very much my own story. After a few very destructive relationships, I had to rediscover myself and find my own voice again and, during that journey, I finally started accepting myself and loving myself.
It was also important to me to make sure that the people I portray are diverse and inclusive. We live in a world with different body-shapes, ethnical backgrounds, accents, cultural understandings and skin colours. Representation matters so let’s celebrate what makes us unique!
Other than that, I love my hometown Vienna, so starting a series around the Danube River was an easy decision!
4. Who is your inspiration for writing in general?
There are so many wonderful writers out there, it is very hard to pin it down to only one person. I think it is a brilliant time for female authors to bring their stories to life and to find an audience. Especially, indie authors bring so many new genres and viewpoints to their readers – the only limit is your own mind. So, I think every woman who has made her dreams come true as a writer is an inspiration.
5. What motivates you as a writer?
The initial motivation was certainly to help me understand my own situation better and so writing was quite therapeutic. Once I had a few advance copy readers and the feedback was very positive and I realised that the story and the female main character resonated with them, it became my motivation to write for them.
6. When did you start your journey as an author?
I wrote my first ‘novel’ when I was about ten years old and it was a magical story about a land full of candy 😊 On a more serious note, I have written stories for a very long time (and had one published previously) but this is now the first time that I take it seriously.
7. Any more plans to write any more stand-alone books or other books series or carrying on with the book series?
Yes, I’m planning two more books about Mela & King and will then explore some stories of some of the side characters within the Danube River series and there is also a standalone book in the works which is set in the 1980s and 1990s which is again a rom com with emotional depth.
